Case study: Specialist
How Medical Hackers turned a radiologist's radio show into a U.S. health audience
Dr. Sandeep Rao, a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist in Texas, hosts Medical Hackers on iHeartRadio 690AM. Hospital Success built the show's social presence from the first post: reels, carousel design, video editing, distribution across four platforms and his Google Business Profile.
Dr. Sandeep Rao, MD MBAMedical Hackers · Vascular and interventional radiologist · El Paso and San Antonio, Texas, United States
- Radio show to short-form video
- Procedure education for patients
- Local discovery in Texas
The challenge
A strong voice on air, no audience online.
Dr. Rao already had what most doctors lack: a radio show, Medical Hackers on iHeartRadio 690AM, and a clear way of explaining complex medicine. But the show lived on air. There was no social presence to carry it to patients who search and scroll.
He also needed patients in El Paso and San Antonio to connect the trusted voice on the radio with the minimally invasive procedures he performs, such as genicular artery embolization for knee pain and prostate artery embolization.

Starting from zero
The Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn accounts were all new. Every follower and view had to be earned.
Long episodes, short attention
Radio segments run long. Social audiences decide in the first two seconds.
Accuracy in a regulated field
Every claim had to be evidence-based and every credential stated exactly, in line with Texas advertising rules.
The solution
How we built it.
- 01
Four channels, one brand
We created and branded Medical Hackers on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn, with one name, one look and one promise: real healthcare talk, no filters.
- 02
Radio to reels
Our editors cut each radio episode into short vertical reels with captions, clear hooks and on-screen titles, so a single conversation becomes several posts.
- 03
Designed carousels that explain procedures
We designed swipeable carousels on the conditions Dr. Rao treats, including knee pain, prostate health, leg symptoms and stroke warning signs, each ending with a clear next step.
- 04
A distribution strategy per platform
The same idea is adapted for each platform, with titles for YouTube search, reels and carousels for Instagram and Facebook, and professional framing for LinkedIn, tagged to El Paso and San Antonio.
- 05
Google Business Profile
We set up and optimized his Google Business Profile so patients who discover him on social media can find, call and visit him locally.
- 06
Accurate and evidence-based
Posts use his exact credentials, as a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist, explain risks alongside benefits and never promise a result.

The work
The growth, month by month.
Every reel came from Dr. Rao's own radio show. We cut, captioned and published them on a steady rhythm, and the reach grew quickly.
- May: finding the format5 reels and about 2,800 views. The accounts were brand new, so we tested hooks, lengths and caption styles to see what held attention.
- June: momentum9 reels and about 56,000 views. Average views per reel rose from about 550 to about 6,200 as we cut the strongest radio moments into tighter clips.
- July: the breakout11 reels and about 222,000 views, an average of about 20,000 per reel. The top reel passed 57,000 views.
- August: holding the reach12 reels and about 137,000 views, with a steady publishing rhythm across all four platforms.
- September: still reaching new people7 reels by September 19 and about 52,000 views in a partial month, with one reel passing 33,000 views.
Most of these views came from people who did not follow the account yet. That is how short-form video introduces a specialist to new patients.

What we created.

The results
What changed.
The first reels in May averaged about 550 views each. By July, reels averaged about 20,000 views, and 17 reels have passed 10,000 views. Patients have started reaching out after watching the reels.
| Channel | Audience | What it delivered |
|---|---|---|
| 951 followers | 44 reels from May 18 to September 19 reached about 470,000 views; the top reel passed 57,000 | |
| 538 followers | Reels and carousels for the local community page | |
| YouTube | 42 subscribers | 54 videos and shorts |
| 134 followers | Company page for professional and referral audiences | |
| Google Business Profile | Set up and optimized | Patients who find him on social media can now find and call him locally |
| Patient enquiries | From reels and Google | About 3 to 4 procedures a month, as reported by the practice |
Follower counts are public figures read on November 4, 2026, and reel views were read on October 25, 2026; both change daily. Most reel views come from people who do not yet follow the account. Procedure numbers are reported by the practice. Published with Dr. Rao's permission. Results depend on many factors and are not a promise of results for other doctors.
Why it matters
Why this works for specialists.
Patients rarely search for a procedure they have never heard of. Short, clear videos from a doctor they already trust, on the radio and on their phone, are often where the journey starts.
Pairing that content with an accurate Google Business Profile turns attention into calls and visits, without hype and without promising outcomes.
